Decent little ultra light reel!
I paired this little micro 11 spin-cast reel with a 5' ultra light rod. It is a very good reel! This reel is incredibly tiny, so tiny, that it will fit in the palm of your hand. I just bought it yesterday and I am already pleased. Take the old pre-spooled line off and spool it with 4 lb. Trilene. Don't use anything over 4 lb. mono because you will not be able to fit 5 yards of line in it if you do. It has an incredibly small line capacity. But then again, small stocked trout and bluegill don't make long runs so you don't necessarily need 100 yards of line. You can tell by the inside of the reel that it is well made. Not much plastic and junk, mostly metal. But then again, I haven't taken it fishing yet! But one thing is that this spin-cast reel will NOT cast those little 1/24 oz. baits that you use with a spinning reel. Anything under 1/16 or 1/8 oz. will NOT cast. This reel is best used with a bobber & worm for bluegill or trout. But with a big a split shot on my line, I could cast this reel to the moon if I wanted it too. If you want a little higher quality, try a Zebco 11 Gold or Platinum series. For me though, I like the Authentic. Overall, this reel is great for beginners and experts alike!
