	by Rick Kendall	Perfect Traveling Companion I purchase the Ugly Stick Pack Rod for fishing out of a canoe in Northern Minnesota. The rod packs down into it's own 22' case for ease of transportation by canoe and airlines. The Ugly Stick fit nicely in both a portage pack and my travel luggage. The rod and case weigh in at about 10oz. which is important if you are trying to keep pack weight in check. The Ugly Stick Pack Rod preformed equally well whether I was using jigs, top water poppers, deep diving crank baits, or spoons. In action, the Ugly Stick handled a very spunky 30' northern pike without the rod separating. Cons, you do loss some sensitivity when comparing it to a one piece rod and the rod tube could be a little beefer. The Ugly Stick over all preformed well and was able to handle the abuse that is dealt out when traveling by canoe.
