very well thought out rod
When I purchased this Okuma 7wt I was not expecting it to be just about as good a fly rod as my Temple Fork Outfitters 7wt I paired my Okuma with a Okuma Vashon 7/8 fly reel this is also a very nice reel,I like the way this rod casts and feels, this Okuma rod comes with a lifetime warranty, I noticed most of the better built fly rods come with a lifetime warranty, for the price and features this is a best buy by Okuma I really like this guide select alot and would buy another in another weight when I need one..

4-piece 5wt
I definitely saw some better distance in my casts on my first outing. Second trip, rod broke! Okuma was easy to deal with on the warranty, but I hate to feel like I need to treat this rod like it's made of waterford crystal. Hopefully it was just a fluke. I'm not abusive with my gear and I WASN'T banging any bead-heads into the rod, so I don't know what could have caused the break (6 inches from the tip). There's no clearcoat, except on the section just above the grip. so maybe the bare graphite is prone to damage without it. just speculation on my part. I'm not willing to spend $200 on a rod yet, so i'm still giving this rod a fair shot.

9FT.8WT GUIDE SELECT
I BOUGHT THIS ROD FOR STEELHEAD FISHING.I'VE ONLY HAD IT OUT ONCE BUT HAVE TO ADMIT IT CAST AND FISHED REALLY GOOD.THE ONLY THING I WAS DISSAPOINTED IN WAS IT DID NOT HAVE A HOOK KEEPER DOWN BY THE HANDLE.I MATCHED IT WITH AN OKUMA SLV 8/9 WT.

7'6' 3-weight
Okuma replaced the 3-weight that shattered when bought it. The replacement part has withstood light casting on the lawn. Seems fine. It was a bit of a pain to deal with the manufacturer with a warranty claim rather than directly with retailer. Took about a week to get replacement part.

9'0 8wt.
I cannot find a single thing wrong with this rod. It has become the first rod I go to for inshore fishing and bigger fish on fast moving rivers as well as lake fishing for striper and bass.
