What a great rod
I cannot say enough about this rod. It is a superbly built fish fighting machine. I purchased this rod in the 7/8 wt series and and have matched it with a reddington rs2 reel. Upon receiving it all I could think is what a beautiful rod at any price. When I took it to the yard for some practice casts all I could think is what a fine casting rod (once again at any price). and on Oct 10th when I hooked into my first 25# king salmon with it, I was sold. This rod has the fish turning power of a d9 dozer. I can not believe how well this rod handled those big fish. I landed 4 kings ,1 steelie and a coho from pretty tight quarters and was able to keep all of them out of my backing on a 10 # tippet. A++++ and 2 thumbs way up to Okuma for building a superior quality rod at a rock bottom price. Buy one and you wont be let down.

Nice Rod, lacking attention to detail (8/9 WT)
Out of the package this rod was amazing. After a few uses, though, the butt cap fell out and the cork at the top of the handle worked loose because the cork was drilled at a wider diameter than the blank. A friend is a rod builder, so he removed some epoxy and thread and fixed it by shimming the cork, but this shouldn't have happened in the first place. Other than those two things, the rod is very nice. It is pretty stout and takes some practice to dial in compared to my medium action 5/6 Wt. Now that I have the feel for it I can cast up to 70 or 80 feet with some work. But compared to a lighter rod, it is quite a bit more work to cast.
