Actually surprised me.
My 10 yr. old son purchased this on his own with some of his lawn mowing money and begged me to take him out to a local pond. I rolled my eyes when I saw the price and pretty much expected the quality to be poor. I have to say that I'm actually quite impressed. I can cast just as well with this rod as some the the higher dollar rods I have owned. It's got good action to it and we landed 4 fish the first evening out with it. Basically the only reason that I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the reel could be better but works just fine. This is a great setup for anyone just getting into fly fishing in my humble opinion.

Absolutely worth it
this set-up is totally worth it for someone just starting out. its good quality and for a price cheaper than fly line you get the whole outfit. it casts pretty smooth, the reel is made of metal im guessing aluminum? thats something the discription doesnt tell you, and its made by zebco a well known name in fishing. AND costumer service is outstanding. i will be sure to make more purchases in the future , the only complaint i have is that they dont sell fly tying tools and materials. unless you have hundreds of dollars go with this complete set-up

Good for 1st set
Have 2 of these.Both bought for my boys for their 1st fly rods.They withstood them both.Oldest son still uses rod but did after awhile replace to better reel.Youngest still has not upgraded.For the price and young kids they are fine.

this is a great fly rod for the price! i have caught big catfish on it and tons of bass and gills. at 1st i didn't realize u can press the lil silver round thing on the reel to turn the drag on. duh. but its not in the instructions? other than that its a pretty good combo! casts and works well!

Martin Fly Combo
So far, so good. They are lightweight, and for my wife she needs as light as possible. I bought her an ultra-light Ugly Stick earlier this season to get her into fishing, now it's time for both of us to learn Fly Fishing.
