minicast combo
Purchased this for my wife as a Christmas present. To begin with the rod would not tighten to the reel, had to put a nickel between rod and reel to get it to tighten. After only breaking it down one time to put back in case the rod pieces fit so sloppily when re-assembled I had to duct tape them to get them to hold, otherwise they would have just flew out when cast. Maybe I just got unlucky.

Daiwa Minicast Combo
Nice little set-up. Useable right out of the box. I should have changed out the line though as it had too much memory and kept catching. Very satisfied otherwise. I'll be using this one on backpacking trips for years to come.

GREAT COMBO!!
I have used my first minicast for 25 plus years and it still works great. I just bought 2 new combos and they are just as finely tuned as the original. Highly recommended reel combo.

Daiwa Minicast Combo
This is my second favorite backpacking rod & reel combo. My favorite is the first rod & reel combo that Daiwa came out with. I've had that one for over 20 years and it still works beautifully. It's so easy to use and pack. Fact is, my young children and grandchildren fish with it a lot easier than the 'children's' models that alot of other companies sale. That's why I bought sets for them too. I just wish the case on this new model was as compact as the case on the earlier model. The older style case fits much better in my backpack.
